MVs Baltic Trader and Pacific Askari arrive on 18th May 2017

Two ships arrive from Cape Town

The Baltic Trader arrived at 11.30 and the Pacific Askari arrived at 14.20 on Thursday 18th May 2017. Offloading of passengers was delayed due to sea conditions in the harbour, but all came ashore safely about 17.00 hrs.

The Baltic Trader departed Cape Town early on Saturday 6th May and the passage lasted over twelve days. Passengers were: islanders Gracie Glass,  Beverley Repetto, Brian Rogers, Peggy Rogers, Samantha Swain and April Swain; Ann Biddle, Tracey Price, Mike and Nena Wolfenden and Alasdair Wyllie.  The ship is expected to arrive at Tristan on 15th May.

The Pacific Askari departed Cape Town at 18.30hrs on 9th May 2017 and therefore its passage was just under nine days. The ship is a charter principally to provide transport back to South Africa for Galliford Try contracors employed in the construction of the new Camogli Healthcare Centre.

Passengers were Islanders Conrad & Sharon Glass, Gary & Rita Repetto; Paul Thornton & Max Slipper (Medical Commissioning Technicians).
