I briefed members on the impressive take-up of vaccines on Tristan, and the return of cruise ships to the Tristan archipelago. I updated them on the project to eradicate invasive mice from Gough Island, and on plans for a Westminster celebration of Tristan's vast new Marine Protection Zone. I stressed that the island is looking for ways to add resilience to its shipping links. And I noted that Tristan da Cunha - whose people were all welcomed to the UK as refugees 60 years ago - had seen the image of its gesture of solidarity with Ukraine go around the world via social media.
