Tristan da Cunha was included, at Westminster Abbey on 29th March 2022, in the service of thanksgiving for the life of HRH Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh was the last member of the royal family to have visited the Tristan archipelago, in 1957, and he maintained a keen interest in the islands throughout his life.

It was an honour to represent the Island Council and the whole Tristan community at the service. It included a prayer of thanks for Prince Philip's "work in conservation and the good stewardship of the environment", a theme close to the hearts of Tristanians.

Fellow south Atlantic territories St Helena and the Falkland Islands were also represented at the service.
