MV Edinburgh makes a return to Tristan da Cunha

Edinburgh arrives at Tristan

Report from Cynthia Green and Geraldine Repetto

MV Edinburgh departed Cape Town at 02.00 on 23rd June 2017 and arrived at Tristan on the morning of Friday 30th June. Passengers came ashore soon after arrival and were: Islanders Neil Swain, Ken & Judy Green, Gladys Lavarello, Joan Repetto, Leon Glass and Duncan Lavarello, Dr. Roy D'Silva, Dr. Peter Ridley, and Ovenstone Technician Anton van Zyl. Also aboard were island copies of the February Tristan da Cunha Newsletter after an epic journey which first took them to the Falkland Islands and back to the UK - so over 20,000 miles all told!

The Edinburgh will now be used mainly as a cargo/passenger ship as the Geo-Searcher becomes the principal Ovenstone fishing vessel.
