Next Annual Gathering

The Tristan da Cunha Association is hoping to return to the Southampton Holiday Inn for a delayed Annual Gathering on Saturday 2nd October 2021.

2021 Annual Gathering

The 2021 event originally planned to be held at the Southampton Holiday Inn on Saturday 10th April has had to be cancelled due to on-going Covid-19 restrictions.

Nevertheless, the committee hopes to organise a 2021 event at the same venue on Saturday 2nd October 2021 and we have reserved the function suite for this possibility. We need to check any social distancing rules that may still apply and liaise carefully with the hotel to see if the event can go ahead.

An attraction of this later date is that October 2021 is the 60th anniversary of the volcanic eruption which led to the evacuation of the island, and the committee are working on arranging part of the programme to commemorate this milestone.

Details and booking form will be included in the August 2021 Newsletter.

If you booked and paid for 2020 Annual Gathering and opted to hold tickets over for this year, you again have a choice to contact Jim Kerr for a refund, or leave your deposit for a future event, this year or next.

This is overall a most unusual notice in extraordinary times and we are grateful for the forbearance of our members as we do our best in difficult circumstances.

Provisional Programme:

  • An all-day gathering from 10 am
  • Bookstall, souvenirs and Association products for sale
  • Tristan filmshow
  • Illustrated talk on a Tristan topic by an expert (to be announced in August)
  • AGM and Auction of Tristan Artefacts in aid of the Tristan Education Trust Fund
  • An optional evening Dinner Dance
