Baltic Trader's final voyage delayed
Report from Cynthia Green |
The Baltic Trader arrived and unloaded passengers at Tristan on Wednesday 30th November, but poor sea conditions meant that the first opportunity to offload was a week later 7th December, when the majority of the cargo came ashore. The wind is fairly strong from the East so no offloading on 8th December - it is like winter instead of summer. |
Offloading started again on the Baltic Trader at 7.30am on Friday 9th December but stopped at 10.30am due to the sea conditions. Reporting again on 13th December Cynthia reports that a further two days' offloading is needed before the ship can prepare to depart for Cape Town. The Baltic Trader was scheduled to depart on 4th December, and, already over a week late, if the ship is delayed by more than two days, it may not get back to Cape Town before Christmas. | |
